The Applied Health program leading to an Associate of Science degree is a dual enrolled degree program between The Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences and Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. In addition to the Associate of Science degree graduates will receive a Diploma in Nursing from RH-SHS. The RH-SHS Diploma in Nursing Program is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

The Applied Science program leading to an Associate of Science degree is a dual-enrolled program between the Joseph F. McCloskey School of Nursing and Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. In addition to the Associate of Science degree, graduates will receive a Diploma in Nursing from JFMSON. The JFMSON is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program leading to an Associate in Science degree is a dual enrolled degree program between Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences (RHSHS) and Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. In addition to the Associate in Science degree, graduates will receive a Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from RHSHS. Graduates of the DMS Program are eligible to take the national credentialing exams through the American Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) upon completion.

Alvernia's post-baccalaureate certification programs for educators are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Certification coursework may be applied to earning a Master of Education or Ph.D. in Leadership degree. Individual courses may be taken as Act 48 credits.

Alvernia’s Early Childhood Education (PK-4) and Special Education (PK-12) Certifications dual major unlocks an unlimited career potential. The program prepares teachers for preschool through Grade 4 and special education teachers in public and private educational institutions. The program is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The dual certification allows program graduates to work as:

• Elementary educators (preschool though Grade 4)
• Special education teachers and learning support specialists (preschool though Grade 12)
in public and private educational institutions.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ offers a wide range of minors, which are optional programs of study that complement or supplement students' majors. They typically require 18-21 credits. Learn more about our offerings below.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's online Bachelor of Science in Finance program at the Header School of Business provides the necessary tools and important skills for students to understand the functions and applications of fast-paced financial markets, while learning how to access and utilize information.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Associate of Science in Healthcare Science degree teaches students how to advocate for individuals and communities that are underserved or underinformed on issues related to health and wellness, health-system policies and health management. The program is an excellent opportunity for students at all levels, including transfers with associate degrees as occupational therapy assistants, physical therapy assistants, medical imaging professionals, dental hygienists or respiratory therapists.

Alvernia’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program expands beyond the classroom to prepare graduates for leadership roles in the ever-changing health care environment. Alvernia's Doctor of Physical Therapy is a 34-month in-person program, with 36 weeks of full-time clinical experience.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's post-baccalaureate Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program is designed for students with an earned bachelor's degree who are ready to take the next step in their professional journey. The MSOT curriculum prepares students for entry-level practice in traditional and role-emerging settings, and with clients across the lifespan: i.e., hospitals, clinics, schools, rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, home health, etc. Comprising compassion, creativity and client-centric solutions, occupational therapy meets the health needs of an ever changing world.
