Biography

Guided by a commitment to community-informed, social justice-oriented research, Dr. Corinne E. Zachry’s work aims to improve health outcomes and strengthen the ability of the social work workforce to serve marginalized communities. Through her experiences as an instructor of graduate-level courses in the online Master of Social Work programs at the University of Southern California and Marist University, Dr. Zachry has developed a deep passion for educating the next generation of social workers.

Dr. Zachry’s research examines how social inequities across the micro, mezzo, and macro levels may impact the physical and mental health of marginalized populations, with a focus on health service utilization among sexual minority and gender diverse (LGBTQ+) people. Dr. Zachry’s recent research also examines associations among healthcare discrimination, healthcare delay or avoidance, and unmet need for mental health services among LGBTQ+ populations.

Dr. Corinne E. Zachry’s work is driven by the overarching goal of using education and research as catalysts to promote health equity for marginalized communities. She is committed to advancing the future of social work practice and advocacy, and to breaking down systemic barriers to health and well-being.
